Atlanta City Council approves Infrastructure Bond list

Atlanta City Council voted unanimously to APPROVE the $250 million Infrastructure Bond project list Monday, May 4, after a lively discussion. Councilmembers previously asked for a breakdown of the project list by council district, an amendment that apparently was met, although we haven't seen the breakdown yet. Read more

Advocacy Update: Infrastructure Bond

In March, Atlanta voters approved a $250 million infrastructure bond that would repair roads, fix bridges, and add bike lanes and complete streets projects throughout Atlanta. Voters approved a draft project list, and Councilmembers will discuss (and potentially vote on) that list today. Read more

Everyday is Bike Day

In many cities across the U.S., May is known for one thing--National Bike Month. In the past, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition has hosted a score of bike month events, from commuter breakfasts to a ride with Mayor Kasim Reed. Atlanta Streets Alive kicks off in the West End

Sunday morning thunderstorms and a tornado watch couldn't keep thousands of Atlantans from heading to the West End Sunday, April 19th, 2015 to participate in our fourteenth Atlanta Streets Alive (and our second one in the West End.) Each street had something a little different to offer, whether you were on foot, bike, wheelchair, or rollerblades! Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard was bustling with activity, from the Music in the Park performances to kids' games.  Read more

Atlanta Streets Alive kicks off 2015 season in the Historic West End April 19th

The streets of Atlanta’s West End will spring to life on Sunday, April 19 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., as a 3.5-mile loop in the Historic West End is opened to people on foot, bike, and other human-powered activities, and closed to motorized traffic. Read more

Atlanta Bicycle Coalition Heads to D.C. for the National Bike Summit

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition staff traveled to Washington D.C. for the Women's Forum and National Bike Summit hosted by the League of American Bicyclists last week. We had the chance to collaborate with bike advocates from across the nation; learn from experts on topics such as equity, retrofitting suburban streets, and women's leadership; and lobby our senators and representatives for important issues, such as Vision Zero.
