Sunday morning thunderstorms and a tornado watch couldn't keep thousands of Atlantans from heading to the West End Sunday, April 19th, 2015 to participate in our fourteenth Atlanta Streets Alive (and our second one in the West End.)
Each street had something a little different to offer, whether you were on foot, bike, wheelchair, or rollerblades! Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard was bustling with activity, from the Music in the Park performances to kids' games.
White Street allowed people to enjoy a little peace and quiet on the car-free street, while still enjoying the food trucks, and neighborhood beer tents.
Lee Street hosted the beginning of the bike parade, beautiful sidewalk chalk art, bike repair station courtesy of Sopo Bikes and a pop-up protected bike lane.
Social media was also abuzz with chatter, photos and videos of all the sights and sounds of the West End.
Many thanks to the wonderful volunteers, activity partners, sponsors and supporters of Atlanta Streets Alive. Save the date for September 27 for our Highland+ event and November 1 (tentative date) on Peachtree.
Please make a donation or join the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition a member to make sure we can keep bringing the streets of Atlanta to life!
