In many cities across the U.S., May is known for one thing--National Bike Month.
In the past, the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition has hosted a score of bike month events, from commuter breakfasts to a ride with Mayor Kasim Reed. We love celebrating the simple freedom of a bicycle and connecting with others in bike communities around Atlanta.
But why pack in the passion, fun, and excitement into only one month? When you have a city that’s bikeable, everyday is bike day.
With the launch of Atlanta Bike Share, the addition of 30 miles of bike lanes as part of the infrastructure bond, and Atlanta’s position as a Green Lane City (meaning we are dedicated to building more protected bike lanes in the city), Atlanta is well on its way to becoming a safer and more enjoyable city to ride a bike.
But don’t worry. We’re not ignoring Bike Month altogether.
