Urban Confidence Bike Ride
Atlanta’s bike revolution is happening and we’re glad you’re part of it. We’ve been listening to you all and we’ve learned that you’d be riding even more if two things happened – 1) the city ramps up its infrastructure so that its roads are safe for bicycle riding and 2) you felt more empowered to negotiated the current and evolving conditions of Atlanta’s streets.
Your ride leader, Stephen Spring, has been car-free, taking on the streets of DC, SF, Austin, and Atlanta by bicycle for three decades.
This ride is guaranteed to lift your urban bike riding confidence. We will mass up, do a few quick drills along the BeltLine, then hit the city streets for an hour-long ride through O4W, Downtown, and into Midtown. We’ll take it slow, stay together, and practice our skills in a safe and supportive setting.
You will experience two-directional protected and single-directional bike lanes, sharrows, and streets where we responsibly exercise our legal right to “take the lane.”
At the end of class, there’s an option to gather and debrief at a restaurant.
Please arrive on time. Class begins at 6:00pm and ends at 7:30pm. Bring your bike, helmet, comfortable shoes, and lights.
It'll likely be a bit cool out, but gaining confidence in riding in Atlanta involves hopping on the bike in all Atlanta's climate challenges. I'm wearing layers, a light windbreaker, gloves and a bright orange winter cap.
Location: Outside Krog Street Market at Krog and Lake Streets.
