When we embarked on expanding our mission and defining our strategic plan in 2019, we connected with a lot of people. We thought at the time that a name change might follow our expanded mission. Now, over a year later, we have several names for you to consider. Here’s how we got here.

May 2019 - September 2019

Mid-2019, we interviewed, surveyed, and talked to a lot of people--most likely you were part of that process. Through the survey, we received a few hundred possible name suggestions. Your enthusiasm was overwhelming! We began to categorize them into a handful of themes, including mobility/multi-modal, transportation, street-based, safety-based, etc. As we finalized the strategic plan, we enlisted the help of our board members and key volunteers with branding backgrounds to help us figure out a process to focus our efforts. 

January 2020 - June 2020

Over the last six months, this committee discussed the next iteration of our name. There are two major processes – discovery and refinement. Discovery allows us to research and see what other similar organizations in the advocacy space call themselves. We analyzed what may or may not work for us. Refinement helps us narrow down our considerations. We started broad by identifying the themes that aligned with our strategic plan and priorities. Suggested names from those themes were then analyzed. New names that surfaced were also submitted for consideration. 

Present

After months of this refinement process, we have a theme and four options to consider. Our theme is “connection.” We feel it’s representative of our mission and who we are as an organization in many ways: it’s about community, pathways, and partnerships. The four options are below. Please weigh in and help us shape our future.
