#Bond4Bikes Update: Early Voting and Ride the Gap

Last week was a big week for our #Bond4Bikes campaign, with two big events: the Ride the Gap and the start of early voting for the Infrastructure Bond.

About 30 cyclists joined us on Feb. 26th for the Ride the Gap down Dekalb Avenue to the 2015 Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond hearing at City Hall. We rode down Dekalb Avenue, from where the proposed Complete Street project is currently slated to end, at Hurt Street, to where the existing bike lanes begin on Decatur Street by the King Memorial MARTA Station. The bike-lane “gap” on DeKalb Avenue is one of many projects we have been advocating to have added to the project list.

Second, early voting on the bond started Feb. 23rd (most locations opened Saturday, Feb. 28th.) Get out and vote yes! A lot of hard work has already gone into making the #bond4bikes--we worked with members, partners, and city staff to dedicate $32.5 million of the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond for bike projects and complete streets.

Although the project list is missing some key bike projects, there are a variety of great projects that will help transform biking in Atlanta. Plus, the list isn't final yet. There's still time to add critical bike projects like Dekalb Avenue, Lee Street and Peachtree to the list. Use our handy contact form to make your voice heard to your council member.

Fund a bikeable future. Vote yes on the bond.
