Urban Confidence- April 15

 black_biker.jpg

Atlanta’s bike revolution is happening and we’re glad you’re part of it. We’ve been listening to you all and we’ve learned that you’d be riding even more if three things happened –

The city ramps up its infrastructure so that its roads are safe for bicycle riding

You felt more empowered to negotiate the current and evolving conditions of Atlanta’s streets

Bikeshare expands to reach more neighborhoods.

Your leaders will be Stephen Spring who has been car-free, taking on the streets of DC, SF, Austin, and Atlanta by bicycle for three decades and a half dozen West End Bike Champions who are rockin' out promoting getting around all over Atlanta's West Side neighborhoods on two wheels.

This ride is guaranteed to lift your urban bike riding confidence. We will meet up at WeCycle on West End Park, do a few quick drills, then hit the city streets for an hour-long ride through the West End. We’ll take it slow, stay together, and practice our skills in a safe and supportive setting. You will experience two-directional protected and single-directional bike lanes, sharrows, and streets where we responsibly exercise our legal right to “take the lane.” At the end of class, there’s an option to gather and debrief at a restaurant.

Please arrive on time. Class begins at 2:00pm and ends at 3:30pm. Bring your bike, helmet, and comfortable shoes. For those who need a bike, know that there will be Relay Bikeshare ones there for your use.

It'll likely be a bit cool out, but gaining confidence riding in Atlanta involves hopping on the bike in all Atlanta's climate challenges. I'm wearing layers, a light windbreaker, gloves and a bright orange winter cap.

High school youth - join us!! We just ask that if you're under 18, that you are accompanied by an adult.
