Heels on Wheels

Join Heels on Wheels on Facebook!

Women are riding bikes in growing numbers in Atlanta - some even in skirts and heels! That's where this group gets its name, although please wear what makes you feel comfortable.

We started this dressy social ride so women of all ages and experience levels could have fun, build confidence, and enjoy the experience of riding with a group of snazzy women - we turn heads just by virtue of the novelty of being an all-female ride. (There are one or two rides each year when we invite men to participate too).

Riding on city streets is so much fun - we usually ride on Peachtree Street for part of the route. If you haven't experienced Peachtree by bike yet, you're in for a treat. We ride with confidence, strive for visibility, and ride predictably by following all traffic laws and staking our claim to the lane when it's too narrow to share.

Check "Events" on Facebook or the website calendar (right column) for the next ride.

Rides are generally 1-1.5 hours at a moderately slow/social pace.

The ride will be postponed if it's raining - check the event page for updates.

ABC Fun Ride

ABC Fun Ride
Monthly on 3rd Sunday @ 10:30 AM
Designed for beginning cyclists, those new to group riding, or the cyclist who is looking for a slow, socially oriented jaunt through our intown neighborhoods.

NEW: Jails, Trash, and McAfee Road

Starting at Manuel's Tavern, this intown tour will take us past multiple incarceration facilities, a landfill, and the little-known McAfee Road. Of the three, only McAfee poses a threat to you – with 6 steep hills packed into a straight-as-an-arrow 3.3 mile stretch. This ride has some great lightly-traveled sections of road, yet never ventures outside of I-285. Directions from Downtown Connector: East on North Avenue 2.1 miles, right on N. Highland, then park in the first parking lot on the right. Please find a spot closest to N. Highland Avenue.

Stone Mountain Bike & Hike

The Stone Mountain Bike and Hike combines the joy of cycling from L5P to Stone Mountain with a hike up the mountain.

The Bike and Hike is about 30 miles total on the bike done in two stages (there and back) and a 1.5 mile hike up the mountain and 1.5 miles coming down.

Ride posting policy

So you are planning an amazing ride, and you'd like to promote it on ABC's website. Understandable. But as you might imagine, we get swamped with requests to post rides on our site. What you might not realize is that we are a very small nonprofit with a tiny staff, so our policy is to only post rides that are organized by ABC, offer ABC members a discount, or benefit our programs financially.
