Take one and call us in the morning: monthly ABC rides

ABC volunteers lead several monthly rides where you can ride in a safe and welcoming environment! Rides follow traffic laws and helmets are required.

The Mobile Social is a monthly, no-drop, group bicycle ride sponsored by The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition

But The Mobile Social is more than that - It's about creating a larger cycling community in Atlanta. The Mobile Social  is open to all types of bicycle riders: Commuters, recreational cyclists, college students, hipsters, racers, riders, couriers, families with children, the curious and the bored, the timid and bold. Simply put: You.

The only stipulation: Be fantastic. And be social.

The Mobile Social takes place every 2nd Friday of every month, meeting at Woodruff Park.

Heels on Wheels is a dressy social ride for women (men sometimes invited). Monthly, date and time change.

Join the group on Facebook - www.facebook.com/groups/heelsonwheelsatl - or check the ABC calendar for the next ride date.

ABC Fun Ride

Monthly on 3rd Sunday @ 10:30 AM. Leave from Little Five Points Village Coffee

Tips for courteous group riding

  • Ride two-by-two (it's the law!) in the right lane on 3+ lane roads
  • Ride single file in the right lane on 2-3 lane roads so as not to interfere with traffic flow.
  • Allow faster cyclists ahead of you so they are not stuck behind during single-file stretches.
  • Follow these principles of safe cycling: be visible, predictable, and assertive (but not aggressive), and control your lane.
  • For more info, visit our bike class page.

Join us for our first commuter breakfast of 2013!

Hello commuters, the next ABC bike commuter breakfast is Thursday January 3rd (that's tomorrow), at Empire State South in Midtown (10th & Peachtree), and it's being extended to 9:30, yay! Here's the breakfast menu, with options from $2 to $. And if you just want coffee, I hear it's some of the best in town. And because I can sense you might ask, no, the coffee won't be free ;) For this breakfast, we decided to focus our time & energy on advocacy rather than discounts, so we're going to be having guests from the Midtown Alliance join us, and I'm crossing my fingers for BeltLine folks too. And hey, if you want to email or call your council member to invite them as well, please feel free to do so! citycouncil.atlantaga.gov

Here's the link www.facebook.com/events/278643718924346, and here's the official blurb:
Two very exciting new items for our January Bike Commuter Breakfast: by popular demand and after months of requests, the breakfast is finally coming to Midtown! Also, we're extending it to 9:30am! (It will still start at 7am for all you early birds too)

Now, if you're one of the many bike commuters who commented on the thread we had about Midtown and/or live or work in the neighborhood, here's a special challenge for you: between now and then, try to convince a coworker or neighbor to ride with you one day - with the BeltLine Eastside Trail connecting Piedmont Park with Freedom Park or other PATH trails and tons of cool neighborhoods, bike commuting to & from Midtown has never been easier! Then, bring those friends to the bike commuter breakfast with you!

In exchange, here's what we're preparing for you: we've already had at least one staff member from the Midtown Alliance confirm their RSVP, and we're confident we'll also have folks from the Beltline join us as well to to chat about bike improvements in the area. Join us for breakfast ($2-9) and/or what I've heard is the best coffee in town, at Empire State South on 10th & Peachtree (SE corner, behind the Clothing Warehouse)

Stella's Gap - ABC Training Ride

This hilly ride goes through some of the best roads you will find anywhere inside I-285. We will tour Buckhead and Sandy Springs with options of 23, 30 and 37 miles. Expect a full range of speeds (13-19 mph) on this ride, but no matter how fast you ride it, you'll want to be fit to do this route.

Jails, Trash and McAfee - ABC Training Ride - Sunday, Feb. 26

ABC's training ride this month is our newest route, taking you on a tour through the neighborhoods north of Emory, and then East Lake, Lakewood, and Grant Park.  Meets at Manuel's Tavern.  Click "Read More" to view maps and get more details.

Mobile Social taking it to the roof

MobileSocial at Noni's

The Mobile Social has delivered "Happy Friday" cheers to thousands in Atlanta who prowl the early weekend streets, but those having the best view of our monthly parade wave down from rooftop bars and restaurants.

It always looks like a lot of fun, so we thought we'd try it out.

Friday, November 11, we ride to the rooftop deck of the Republic Social House on Memorial Avenue across from Oakland Cemetery.

Mobile Social: Part VIII

Mobile Social VIIIIn case you haven’t noticed, the weather is now totally fantastic. Summer sent a postcard and said, “See you next year,” and now fall has officially given us a high five.

So, this ride we’re giving one thumb up to fall. And the other thumb? We at The Mobile Social are giving that to you. Yes, you. How? Well, let me tell ya’ll:

Sept. Mobile Social - Elliott Street Pub & Castleberry Hill

The Mobile Social has in less than a year become one of the coolest social rides in town.  Come see why on Friday, September 9 as we take a loop over toward the Edgewood Retail District on our way to Castleberry Hill's Art Stroll and the bike-friendly Elliott Street Pub.
