Social Media and Communications Intern: Fall 2015

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of communications and marketing for a non-profit organization.

A:

The intern will report directly to the Communications Manager, and will also work with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition staff.

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Produce social media content for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram

  • Collaborate on social media campaigns for Atlanta Streets Alive and the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition

  • Identify partners and influencers to create Facebook/Twitter lists

  • Assist with creating Facebook and Twitter advertising

  • Produce content for the website/newsletter/press releases

Qualifications:

  • Students applying for this internship must have great communications skills and should be majoring in Communications, Marketing, or Journalism.

  • Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media.

  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented.

  • Must have excellent time management skills and flexibility.

  • Must be able to work independently, as well as take direction.

  • Must own a laptop.

  • Interest in bicycling or urban planning preferred.

Duration: Fall semester 2015

Hours: 5-10 hours per week. May work remotely, but expected to be in the office at least one day a week.

Compensation: $100/month transportation stipend. Intern may be eligible for college credit.

Perks: Free ABC tshirt & cycling cap, free entry to any paid ABC events, and one year membership.

Graphic Design Intern: Fall 2015

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition is seeking a graphic design intern to assist with the development of marketing materials and graphics for the non-profit organization.

A:

The intern will report directly to the Communications Manager, and will also work with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition staff.

Duties and responsibilities:  

  • Design engaging graphic communications for print and web. This will include logos, direct mail pieces, posters/flyers, signage and website and social media graphics.

  • Complete a major semester-long design project: End-of-year fundraising materials

  • Prepare photos for web and print

Qualifications:

  • Students applying for this internship must have design skills and should be majoring in Graphic Design, Art, or Marketing.

  • Be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

  • Must be extremely organized and detail oriented.

  • Must have excellent time management skills and flexibility.

  • Must be able to work independently, as well as take direction.

  • Ability to design within a template, as well as come up with creative solutions to design challenges.

  • Must own a laptop.

  • Interest in bicycling or urban planning preferred.

Bike Valet Coordinator

A:

The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition provides bicycle valet parking at events and festivals to promote active transportation, sustainable living, and safe cycling. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, friendly, ambitious, and committed to providing great customer service to fill the position of Bike Valet Coordinator.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Serve as staff to be present at each bike valet event
  • Plan logistics for each bike valet (transportation, set-up, break-down)
  • Recruit and manage volunteer support for bike valets
  • Manage supplies and materials relevant to our bike valet program
  • Work closely with the bike valet manager to provide a successful program

Preferred Experience/Training (in descending order of importance)

  • Background in project/event management, retail, or business
  • Customer Service
  • Volunteer management experience/Supervisorial role
  • Bicycle maintenance

Preferred Skills

  • Strong written/verbal communication and leadership skills
  • Fiscal management and responsibility
  • Program development / customer service

Characteristics

  • Detail-oriented
  • Upbeat, can-do attitude with professional and friendly demeanor
  • Resourceful, works well independently and with volunteers
  • Ability to lift over 20 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Access to reliable transportation for rack transport
  • Motivated to achieve the mission of the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, and passionate about the benefits of bicycling and the need to improve conditions in Atlanta.
  • Must be a bike rider – what kind of cycling doesn’t matter, but a genuine enthusiasm for bicycling is necessary for this position!
  • Must be able to work weekends as this is when most events take place.

Job details

  • $14-16/hour
  • Potential for flexible or compressed work hours
