ABC cell phone drive ends this week!

If you've been meaning to donate your old cell phone or PDA but haven't gotten around to it yet, the drive at Atlanta bike shops ends this Friday. Read more for participating shops.

Do you have old cellphones piling up in a box somewhere? An old PDA that you never use? Put these devices into the hands of those who can really use them, and benefit ABC as well! This month the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign, in partnership with area bicycle shops and Collective Good, is accepting donations of used cell phones, PDAs, pagers, and related accessories. Read more for participating locations.
To participate, take your devices to a participating bicycle shop. At the end of the month, ABC will collect the donations and send them to Collective Good. There the units will be refurbished or rebuilt (or recycled if neither is possible), and sold to people in the developing world. Whether for personal use or to help run a small business, these devices often provide their owners with their first modern means of communication. The devices get a new life, the electronic components (containing many toxic compounds) stay out of the landfill, and a portion of the proceeds go to the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign.
