Georgia Rides to the Capitol 2009

Thanks to everyone who joined a chilly ride to the Capitol this year! We had excellent participation from local mayors, including the new mayor of the new City of Dunwoody. Georgia Bikes did a wonderful job organizing, as always, and ABC helped out by providing bike parking. Read on for news links.

(from Decatur): THANKS go out to everyone in Decatur who pre-registered, supported, and/or biked the Georgia Rides To The Capitol 2009 event! GREAT turnout of citizen and public official riders, even with the frigid morning temperatures!!

SPECIAL THANKS to Commissioner Fred Boykin and the City staff for organizing/managing the Decatur start and to Mayor Bill Floyd and the Glenwood Academy kids for riding again this year!!!

(From Decatur Commissioner Fred Boykin) Thank you for supporting the 4th Annual Georgia Rides To The Capitol Event. It was an amazing to see all those cyclists coming towards the Capitol yesterday. Everyone looked great in their blue jackets and I’ve been told that it meant a lot to the cyclists to see so many of their elected officials out in support of the event and the effort to raise awareness about the need for the development of a regional-scale bicycle network of both on-road facilities and multi-use-trails, and a pedestrian network focused around major transit facilities and activity centers and near schools.
