Blinkie Awards: event alert
Who: The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, Members, Supporters, Businesses, and Elected Officials including Atlanta City Council Member Keisha Lance Bottoms.
What: The Blinkie Awards are a celebration of all things biking in Atlanta. This event recognizes Atlanta Bicycle Coalition supporters, members, and advocates, paying tribute to those making strides towards a bicycle-friendly Atlanta. Awards handmade by a local sculptor will be awarded to winners in categories including bicycle-friendly elected official, partner of the year, favorite bike shop, most bike-friendly neighborhood and bike-friendly business.
Along with the award ceremony there will be a silent auction, music, photo booth by Atlanta Bicycle Chic’s Cameron Adams, a pop up bike fashion show from the Spindle, food and beverages including Valentine’s Day treats from Sweet Cheats, appetizers from Whole Foods and the Pickle, and beverages from New Belgium.
The evening will also launch of a new video starring local Grammy winning R&B artist Anthony David, with a cameo from Mayor Kasim Reed. The video will kickoff the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition’s spring membership drive, during which members will compete for an exciting bicycle tour adventure by inviting friends to join. Following the event will be an afterparty benefit for Filipino families affected by the typhoon of 2013 at Milltown Tavern.

Why: Atlanta is making great strides towards becoming a bicycle-friendly city. Along with the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition, an advocacy organization, initiatives including an automated, modern bike share program, $2.5 million in high priority bicycle infrastructure, the Atlanta BeltLine, and a growing number of neighborhoods and businesses are paving the way.
