Does anyone have any more information on the cyclists? Was he an ABC member?
Holy moly, that is terrible. The Jag driver will get a slap on the wrist, at best. I hope the cyclist comes out OK and that he, or his family, sues the fancy pants off that driver.
The AJC had another violent story somewhat related to bikes: a man was shot in the back walking on a bike path in Washington Park. http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/man-shot-and-killed-259288.html
at least the driver got cited...that's a step forward. too often the driver is not cited and the same old excuse of "I just didn't see them..." is accepted.
In my accident case the young driver pleaded Nolo and got a $200 fine and no points against her driving record for hitting me. As for me, I got to spend 4 days in Grady Hospital, missed out running a marathon that I had been training for, lose of my bike, and the joy having having to sue her and her insurance company for damages.
That's TERRIBLE! Sounds like we need to start working with the DAs to make sure they understand the impact of these cases and prosecute them accordingly.
