Five ABC highlights of 2008

1) The Atlanta Bicycle Campaign educated 274 adults and 55 children on bicycle safety and how to ride confidently and legally in traffic and on trails.

2) We conducted our first biannual bicycle traffic counts. Thirty-three volunteers counted 673 cyclists at seven locations in May and 790 at the same locations in September for an 18% increase in bicycling.

3) ABC launched a Bike Buddies program pilot with the Atlanta Regional Commission and Emory Bikes in the Emory area.

4) We held the first annual BeltLine Bike Tour, with 250 people participating, many families among them, and garnered front-page coverage in the AJC. We also partnered with the Downtown TMA to hold the first annual BikeFest downtown to celebrate Bike Month.

5) ABC trained eight new League Cycling Instructors to teach our Confident City Cycling classes.
