Paris and Washington, D.C. - a tale of two bike-sharing cities

As Bogart remarked in Casablanca, "we'll always have Paris." Well, it appears, we can now add Washington, D.C. to the list of cities that we have - the international list of cities offering advanced bicycle sharing programs. How do these two systems compare? More importantly for us, how can Atlanta become part of this growing movement and increase transportation options for its residents and visitors?

The Great Bike Rack Hunt Panorama

On a cold mid-November morning in 2007 a group of more than 2 dozen intrepid hunters gathered at Five Points MARTA station to set out to track down their elusive bike rack quarry. They cornered almost 400 of the beasts, but being on a mission of mercy and not blood sport, they left their prey undisturbed. The creatures whereabouts and characteristics, though, were painstakingly cataloged and are now known to the City of Atlanta and to the folks who run the A-Train Trip Planner.
