CNN International shoots story featuring the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign

ABC staff members and cycling instructors spent 2 hours with CNN International reporter, Ralitsa Vassileva - pictured right speaking with our Executive Director, Rebecca Serna - shooting video and taping interviews for a story about how the American public is responding to rising gas prices, in part, by turning to bicycling as an alternate form of transportation and how ABC is helping people who want to do so overcome their doubts and learn to cycle confidently on city streets.

Update: It looks like the story will air Tuesday, May 6 with a re-broadcast over the weeked of May 10-11. The show, iReport for CNN, is carried on CNN International and is seen all over the world. In the U.S. go to Comcast channel #206.

The back story of how this all came together is interesting in and of itself.

He's seen in the photo at right in the Saudi desert sporting, of course, a BRAG 2003 t-shirt. Tommy shared his tentative plans for coming home in a recent email.

Hazard reporting takes first online steps

With the addition of the "Hazards" menu item at the top of this page, ABC is taking its first steps in making it easier for you to let us know about dangers on the road. Our plan is to expand this service into a full-fledged hazard tracking system so that you can see how these problems are being addressed and so that we don't let anything inadvertently fall through the cracks - especially our fellow cyclists! (Thanks to Scott Ehardt for the heads-up on this particular hazard.)

ABC members track down dangerous utility wires for PEDS

According today's PEDS Update, 2 ABC members, Chester Perry and Paula Grad, were among the leaders in helping document and report some 250 loose, dangling, or otherwise hazardous utility wires to PEDS during their John Lamb Memorial Wire Hunt with Chester scoring a first place win and Paul coming in third. As is almost always the case, the work that PEDS does on behalf on pedestrians benefits cyclists as well. Congratulations to Chester and Paula and a big thank-you to PEDS!

Here's a nod to No Brakes - Atlanta's Track Bike Boutique for helping to promote our upcoming BeltLine Bike Tour. I personally didn't know about them until now and was pleased to discover that they are already our friends.
