Bikeshare 101 at West End Marta: The Black History Month Ride

2/20/17: 6:00-7:30pm

Meet at the West End Marta

Want to learn more about Atlanta's new bike share program, safe riding, and the West End? Then this class is for you! These free classes include a free access code for you to try bike share! There will be a 1.8-mile group ride option where we will explore and learn some of the neighborhood’s history.

The West End is home to the West Hunter Street Baptist Church. The church has been one of Atlanta's leading black churches for decades and since 1961 was led, until his death, by Reverend Ralph David Abernathy.

A close friend of Martin Luther King, Jr., Abernathy participated in most of the civil rights campaigns of the 1960s and 1970s and succeeded King as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Gordon Street was renamed Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, in 1991.
