2. Tom Cross presents - 1st Thursdays at Emory Village
Join Tom Cross for a 7 or 12 mile ride through Druid Hills on the 1st Thursday of every month at 5:30 PM. Meet at the parking lot between CVS and Dave's Cosmic Subs. This will be a fun, safe and social ride for beginners and experienced cyclists alike. We will climb a few of the hills of Druid Hills. Cue sheets or maps will be provided; however, we plan to try to stay together. Other than a brief excursion on the PATH in Freedom Park, we will stay within historic Druid Hills on safe, low traffic volume roads at all times. The short option is 7 miles and the long option is 12 miles. Both options will bring you back to Emory Village in time to enjoy all the fun of 1st Thursday in Emory Village. Helmets are required. For more information, please contact Tom Cross at 404-281-1764 or tomcross@mindspring.com.
ride-n-dine
Join Tom Cross every Wednesday at 9:00 AM sharp at rise-n-dine, the acclaimed new breakfast and lunch restaurant in Emory Village, for a spirited 2 +/- hour ride. We will not be re-inventing the wheel here; instead, we will be using existing ride routes like the Wed. Outback ride, the Thurs. Avondale Pizza ride, the infamous Nanimal Ugly Smelly ride and the ever popular Bicycle South Bike to the South ride, alternating from one to the other each week. Come early for breakfast (the sweet-potato pancakes rock) or coffee (Stephanie serves Counter Culture Coffee) and stay for lunch after. Ride goes rain, shine or cold. For more information, contact Tom Cross at 404-281-1764 or tomcross@mindspring.com.
3. Connect Atlanta: Connect Atlanta
"Atlanta is the center of the fastest growing region in the United States, home to the world’s busiest international airport, and is where three major interstate highways and two major railroad networks converge, forming an important transportation center for freight in the southeast and the United States. Atlanta is also home to a multi-billion dollar bus and rail system, the first in the southeast. This infrastructure helps us get to work, to play, and to access goods and services from all over the world."
"Atlanta`s resurgence in population and economic growth, as well as, impacts from neighboring suburban communities place enormous stress on the existing transportation infrastructure. To prepare for the future, Atlanta is compelled to develop a rational Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) which insures mobility, continued economic growth, and desired quality of life for citizens and visitors alike. Connect Atlanta (the city's first CTP), will ensure that Atlanta continues to lead the region in efficient, effective and affordable transportation."
