Courteous Mass

Atlanta commuters, recreational cyclists, families with children, college students, hipsters, racers, couriers, et al - come out and ride!

Courteous Mass is intended to demonstrate support for better bike facilities and safer traffic conditions, while providing a great opportunity for less-experienced cyclists to try riding on the streets and to just have fun. We do follow all traffic laws, so it's a bit different from Critical Mass. If you believe in a balanced transportation policy, join us!

We meet at Woodruff Park in downtown Atlanta at 6 pm on the 2nd Friday of each month. Woodruff Park is located at 51 Peachtree Street 30303 between the Five Points and Peachtree Center MARTA stations - transit directions).

The ride leaves at 6:30 pm. The route varies but is generally fairly short and sweet - 7 to 10 miles in the downtown/intown area.

This ride follows all traffic laws. Cyclists will stop at red light and stop signs, ride two abreast or single file on two lane roads, and will treat all other users of the road with the kind of courtesy and respect that we all deserve.

Courteous Mass Tips:

  • Ride two abreast in the right lane on 4-5 lane roads
  • Ride single file in the right lane on 2-3 lane roads so as not to interfere with traffic flow.
  • Please allow faster cyclists ahead of you so they are not stuck behind during single-file stretches.
  • And as always, be courteous!
