"No-Cruising" Ordinance on Columns Drive

Columns Drive in Cobb County is one of the most popular places to ride a bike in metro Atlanta, with wide bicycle-friendly shoulders. A "No Cruising Zone" targeting bicyclistswas proposed by a County Commissioner. It would have prohibited all vehicles, including bicycles, from circling the road more than two times in an hour.

This quote is from a letter sent from Cobb County.
"Additionally, the Board will soon hold public hearings regarding revisions to the Cobb County Codes, which may include a proposed "No Cruising Ordinance" on Columns Drive. Two public hearings are scheduled. The dates are Tuesday, January 23, 2007 and Tuesday, February 27, 2007. The hearings will begin promptly at 7:00 pm prior to the beginning of the regularly scheduled BOC meetings. The public hearings and BOC meetings will be held in the BOC Meeting Room, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta, GA 30030."

Athletes upset over proposed anti-cruising measures

A proposed ordinance to limit traffic from cyclists, roller-bladers and inline skaters on Columns Drive has drawn applause from residents and ire from athletes who use the road as a training ground.
